American International Institute of Polygraph: Overview

The American International Institute of Polygraph (AIIP) is one of only eleven training institutions in the United States that are accredited by the American Polygraph Association (APA) to teach the 400-hour Basic Polygraph Examiner Course. Founded in 1999 by Charles "Chuck" Slupski in College Park, Georgia, AIIP has evolved into a leading polygraph training institution now located in Peachtree City, Georgia. Tuition for the basic course is $6,000 USD, with the program typically lasting 10 weeks. AIIP teaches polygraph methodology, theory, and science, which echoes the US Federal Government school's teaching, as closely as possible.

Curriculum & Training Approach

The Basic Polygraph Examiner Training Program is conducted in accordance with requirements established by the American Polygraph Association and ASTM International, with an overall objective of providing the graduating student with the knowledge, skills, and ability to professionally administer and defend polygraph examinations for government, law enforcement, and private entities. The curriculum and instructional training methods have been developed based on US Federal training standards learned while attending the Department of Defense Polygraph Institute. Classes generally meet Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and may include up to two Saturday classes to facilitate a 3-day break about mid-course. Students must obtain at least 75% on each written examination and on the comprehensive final examination, with any grade below 75% considered unsatisfactory.

Faculty & Expertise

Director Robbie Frederick began his law enforcement career in 1986 and retired from the Clayton County Police Department in 2016 with over 30 years of experience at the rank of Captain, attending the Department of Defense Polygraph Institute in 2003. His academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of West Georgia and graduate work toward a Master's Degree in Forensic Psychology. Deputy Director Charles "Chuck" Slupski is a graduate of the US Army Polygraph School and former instructor at the Department of Defense Polygraph Institute, having been a polygraph examiner since 1983 and retired from the US Army Criminal Investigations Command in 1996. The school employs additional experienced instructors including Sarah Keane, who specializes in Post Conviction Sex Offender Testing (PCSOT), and Joshua Alford from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Tuition, Costs & Financial Options

Total tuition due to Frederick Polygraph, LLC, dba "American International Institute of Polygraph" on or before the first day of scheduled training is $6,000.00, unless other arrangements are made with the AIIP Director in advance. PCSOT (Post Conviction Sex Offender Testing) training costs an additional amount and runs March 16-20, 2026 in Peachtree City, GA. AIIP reserves the right to provide individual and group discounts on a case-by-case or contractual basis. The tuition and fees do not include costs associated with meals, lodging, or transportation, and also do not include any polygraph equipment.

Qualified individuals must have at least an associate's degree from an accredited college or university, or written confirmation of qualifications in the state or country in which the applicant intends to practice, unless a higher-level degree is required for licensing in the State or Country where they intend to practice. The American International Institute of Polygraph does not discriminate based on race, sex, religion, ethnic origin, or disability, and consistent with availability of space, AIIP is open to all qualified individuals. Students must demonstrate maturity and respect for fellow students and faculty members throughout the program.

Robbie and Shelley Frederick moved the AIIP to its current location in Peachtree City, Georgia, in 2022. The school also conducts courses at the Alabama Criminal Justice Training Center in Selma, Alabama. AIIP teaches polygraph classes internationally on a fairly regular basis, in South Africa, Ukraine (until the war), and Taiwan.

Polygraph examiners in Georgia are not required to obtain a state-issued license, making it one of the few states where practitioners can operate without state-mandated certification. Founding and Early Years

American International Institute of Polygraph (AIIP) was founded in 1999 by Charles "Chuck" Slupski in College Park, Georgia. He had been working at a polygraph school in that area, which had shut down. Chuck realized the need for polygraph training was still there, but not being offered. With his knowledge and experience from both administering polygraphs for the US Army and teaching all polygraph topics at the Department of Defense Polygraph Institute, along with several credit cards, Chuck started the American International Institute of Polygraph. AIIP's first class was held in 2000. Chuck created relationships with polygraph professionals in Taiwan, South Africa, and Ukraine, and began traveling the world to teach polygraph. Robbie Frederick, the current owner/director, began teaching for AIIP in 2007 while he was a police officer with the Clayton County Police Department, with Chuck working out a deal that allowed Robbie to teach more frequently in exchange for free training for other CCPD officers. In 2021, Chuck Slupski sold the business to Robbie and Shelley Frederick, who moved AIIP to its current location in Peachtree City, Georgia, in 2022.
