About Vladimir Mikhailovich Knyazev
Vladimir Mikhailovich Knyazev is a Belarusian polygraph expert who founded and served as the first head of the Psychological-Technical Assistance Department at the Crime Investigation Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus. He has held prominent international positions, serving as Vice-President of the International Polygraph Association and working as an international trainer, having delivered training on psychophysiological studies and usage of polygraph equipment for specialists from state security services in Central Asian countries including Uzbekistan.
Knyazev's research contributions to polygraph science focus on historical documentation and methodological development in Eastern European contexts. His most significant publication, co-authored with Olya Matselya in 2016, documented the history of polygraph in the Republic of Belarus, addressing what had been an underexplored area of the field's development. Working closely with Lithuanian researchers Vitas Saldžiūnas and Aleksandras Kovalenko, he co-authored "Tests with Numbers" (2012), which explored innovative testing methodologies. His work has contributed to understanding polygraph development in former Soviet republics and documenting the evolution of psychophysiological testing techniques in the region.
As a practitioner-researcher affiliated with law enforcement institutions, Knyazev has been active in the international polygraph community, particularly within European and Eurasian networks. His participation in international conferences and training programs has helped bridge Eastern European polygraph practices with broader international standards and methodologies.

History of Polygraph in the Republic of Belarus
Belarus's polygraph development reflects broader patterns of Central and Eastern European polygraph evolution, with significant scientific work and practical experience previously unknown internationally due to Soviet domination. [002] 2012 European PolygraphTests with Numbers
Mental arithmetic tasks produced observable EDA responses that increased systematically with problem difficulty, demonstrating that cognitive processing alone can generate physiological reactions detectable by polygraph instrumentation.Explore all research.
