About the Author
J. Peter Rosenfeld, Ph.D. is Professor of Psychology at Northwestern University. Professor Rosenfeld received his B.A. and M.A. from Columbia University and his PhD. in Physiological Psychology from the University of Iowa (1971). He joined the faculty of Northwestern in 1970 as an assistant professor, was promoted to associate professor in 1974, and then to full professor in 1979.
He was known as an authority on lie detection and more generally on Event Related Potential (ERP) research. He has served on the board of directors for the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and as president of the Association for Applied Psychophysiology. Among his editorial roles, he served as associate editor of the International Journal of Psychophysiology and as associate editor of the Journal of Neurotherapy.
Dr. Rosenfeld has served as member of the editorial board for the following journals: Biofeedback and Self-Regulation, International Journal of Rehabilitation and Health, Journal of Credibility Assessment and Witness Psychology, and Applied Psychophysiology. He has published more than 150 articles and other professional research materials, and has presented his work nationally and internationally.
Through his research, he helped develop in 2008 a novel ("Complex Trial") protocol which has proven resistant to most countermeasures. Sadly, Professor Rosenfeld passed away on February 15, 2021, at age 81. His work continues to influence the field of deception detection.
