Position Overview
As a Polygraph Examiner with MCSO, you will be responsible for conducting polygraph examinations that assess the honesty and integrity of applicants and employees in accordance with Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training (AZPOST) and MCSO standards. Your work will be instrumental in supporting both pre-employment screenings and criminal investigations.

Position Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or GED.
- Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of experience in investigations and applied investigative interviewing or polygraph examinations.
- Certification: Polygraph certification from an American Polygraph Association (APA) accredited school.
- Other Requirements: Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license or have the ability to obtain one by the time of hire. Training on FEMA NIMS – IS100 and 700, Safety, Payroll, and PREA may be provided on the job. Successful candidates must pass a polygraph examination and background investigation prior to hiring.

- Polygraph experience in law enforcement examinations.

Essential Job Tasks
In this role, you will:
- Review applications, background questionnaires, and case reports.
- Conduct pre-examination interviews and develop question formats for polygraph exams.
- Administer polygraph examinations efficiently and perform post-examination interrogations when necessary.
- Evaluate examination results and prepare comprehensive reports.
- Maintain and calibrate polygraph equipment.
- Participate in ongoing training to maintain and enhance your skills.
- Provide courtroom testimony as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
The role is primarily based indoors within MCSO facilities and involves working closely with a variety of staff. You will perform tasks such as sitting, standing, walking, and operating polygraph equipment. The social environment involves frequent interactions with the public and working within a team.
Selection Procedure
The selection process will be based on departmental needs, with successful candidates typically hired at a salary rate up to the midpoint of the pay range, depending on applicable experience, internal equity, and budgetary considerations.
