Job Responsibilities

Polygraph Examiners will:

  • Conduct Law Enforcement Pre-Employment Tests (LEPET) under NCCA-approved guidelines.
  • Perform polygraph examinations in accordance with DEA and NCCA standards.
  • Adhere to DEA-specific mentoring and training requirements.
  • Ensure professionalism and integrity during all assignments.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Certification and Education:
    • Current Federally Certified Polygraph Examiner.
    • Proof of graduation from the National Center for Credibility Assessment (NCCA) or its predecessors: Defense Academy for Credibility Assessment (DACA) or Department of Defense Polygraph Institute (DoDPI).
  2. Experience:
    • At least 5 years conducting NCCA-approved LEPET polygraph examinations for a federally recognized agency.
  3. Integrity and Competency:
    • No prior dismissals or findings that question integrity (e.g., “Giglio” concerns).
    • Free of competency-related removals.
  4. Continuing Education:
    • Maintain 80 hours of NCCA-approved Continuing Education (CE) every two years.
    • Completion of NCCA-mandated countermeasures training and CE credits, with proof provided via transcripts.
  5. Professionalism:
    • Adherence to DEA’s Polygraph Program Manual and NCCA standards.
    • Conduct themselves professionally, with appropriate business attire during exams.
    • Promote a positive and respectful workplace environment.
  6. Technical and Investigative Skills:
    • Proficient in investigative techniques and administrative polygraph tasks.
    • Computer literacy in email, word processing, and data entry software.
